It's a Hit- 2022 Acura MDX Smashes Sales Records
The 2022 Acura MDX leads the class in sales.

Acura recently introduced the fourth generation MDX. The new MDX comes with a focus on performance and interior quality. The three row SUV is completely redesigned inside and out, specific changes include a new double-wishbone front suspension, built in Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

All these changes are clearly paying off- Acura announced they sold around 7,500 MDX's in March 2021. This is the best sales month ever for an Acura SUV. For comparison, the previous MDX monthly sales record stood at 6,761 units, that record was set back in December of 2014.

The MDX's smaller brother, the RDX, came close to this sales number when it sold 7,292 units in June 2018. Acura expects to sell approximately 12,000 units total between the RDX and MDX, both featuring Acura's updated design language. With reporting of March sales on the way from other brands, Acura says it expects the MDX to top the sales charts in its segment for the month.

This is no small feat- the large SUV market is extremely competitive. Vehicles such as the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Lexus RXL feature the best quality and technology their respective automakers have to offer. To win in this segment a vehicle has to bring everything a brand has, and the 2022 MDX has done that. I recently had the chance to ride in the newly redesigned TLX and Acura's new focus on interior materials combined with their brilliant powertrains featuring their Super Handling AWD has shot their vehicles far ahead of the pack in many respects. It will be interesting to see what Acura does in the future in order to keep the MDX on top of the sales charts.
